Mortal Kombat X (iOS/Android) game Out Now

If you want a taste of Mortal Kombat X, NetherRealm's mobile team has released a smartphone-friendly version of the game on iOS.

The mobile version of the game feels like it closely adheres to many freemium tropes we have seen from Zynga and other developers in the past. The Player control a party of fighters, which is represented as cards with unique stats. Whilst factions exist as they will in the console title, the players party doesn't need to belong to any one clan, with a fight of Lin Kuei alongside Shirai Ryu.

Mortal Kombat X

As you progress through the main campaign, player's fighter's general stats will level up and he/she can improve or augment certain abilities by paying with in-game currency or adding in items they unlock during certain battles.

Mortal Kombat X looks good with fluid 3D graphics, detailed character models and smooth animations for fighting moves and poses.

The Player's team of three fighters can be switched out mid-battle, giving you new moves to play with and your injured warriors time to recover before being called back into battle. If the player is the last man/woman standing, then he/she will win each fight and health is fully replenished between each round.

The game has fun concept and getting to play with such iconic characters on your phone is a great offering in its own right, but Mortal Kombat X doesn't offer enough of an experience to ensure you will want to defend Earthrealm on a daily basis. Also, players will encounter a few audio bugs as well as game types that are not yet active.

Mortal Kombat X is available on iOS, but still there are some locked-out features no doubt destined to arrive in a future update and the Android version of the game will be available in a couple of weeks. What you think about this game? Share your views with us on iPhone Game reviews.

Knights And Snails: Right Idea, Wrong Game

Knights and Snails is a game that should have an identity crisis. It should be a multiplayer CCG-type title with strategic battles, but it decides to structure itself more like a match-3 game with dozens of levels to play. The core gameplay concept is so interesting in Knights and Snails, but then goes in such a weird and ill-fated direction.

It is not so easy to understand the game without playing it. In the game, you have a team of 12 knights going up against a team of 12 other knights. The imitate player chooses a knight and the opponent chooses a knight in that same row, then they compete with each other to win. To score points in this game, you have to do more and more damage.

If you are able to score more points at the end, you will win the game. These are just the basics. There are many aspects that can make even a low-ranked knight dangerous in the right circumstances. It is a deep game, in spite of its colorful exterior.

There are many things in Knights and Snails that can sneak up on you if you are not paying attention to them. The numbers that define each of the units don't tell the whole story,  because a unit might have high defense or a higher attack score than their low number would indicate. So, it's better to check what exactly the opposing unit's stats are before each round.

In Knight and Snails, Chaos is everywhere. Sometimes a strategy gets thrown out the window when you are just dealing with things like this. If you are a perfectionist, then I think Knights and Snails is not the game for you, as in this game you are not able to win some battles. But still, there is some fun strategy to play with.

Overall, Knights and Snails is an interesting game, but perhaps should have taken a different approach. It can be a unique battling and collecting game, and instead it exists a single player-focused experience, monetizing through little advantages here and there. This strategy is not right for this game, but at whole, the core game is not bad.
